Inter-club tennis in Nashik

NASHIK: More than 70 players, representing top eight clubs from Maharashtra, will be seen in action at the fifth edition of MSLTA Maharashtra inter-club tennis tournament to be played at the SSK club here from Friday.
Khar Gymkhana , CCI ‘A’ , Mumbai Suburban Tennis Association, PYC Hindu Gymkhana ‘A’ , PYC ‘B’, PYC ‘C’, Nasik District and Combined Districts will compete in the three-day finals which will be played on a league-cum-knockout basis.
Over 1200 players from across the state participated in the league stage played over the last six months. Two district teams were selected through selection matches played in Pune earlier this month .
“The tournament offers Rs 7.5 lakh in prize money, hospitality and travel expenses to all the teams. Maharashtra is the only state in the country to host an event like this for club level players over the age of 35 years,” said Sunder Iyer, MSLTA honorary secretary.
